“With the assitance of my husband we find local wood that has been discarded. Before I begin carving, I visualize movement and feel a shape within the wood. The whole sculpture process is “give and take” between me and the wood. As I carve, (using a chainsaw and other smaller power tools) I pay attention to what is already there and try to accentuate the natural beauty and movement of the wood. The idea is to let the material “be” what it is naturally meant to be.” – Maureen Williams
