BIO

“I have lived in Central Florida since 1970 but originally came from Iowa. I was raised by nature loving parents near woodlands and water. Today I live in Winter Park with my husband and work in a warehouse studio. For many years, found pieces of wood have been my primary material as well as my inspiration. I studied art for a BFA at Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa, and sculpture as a fellow at the Atlantic Center for the Arts and Penland School of Crafts in Penland, N.C. Locally I’ve studied at Crealde School of Art where I was given a one person show. I have participated in many group exhibits in the Southeast, in venues such as:

  • The Mobile Museum of Art, Mobile, AL
  • Le Mieux Galeries, New Orleans, LA
  • Art Space, Atlanta, Ga
  • University of Georgia, Athens, GA Alliance for the Arts, Ft. Myers, FL
  • The Thomas Center, Gainsville, FL
  • Thresholds, Expressions of Art and Spiritual Life (traveling show starting in Charleston, S.C)
  • The Menello Museum, Orlando, FL
  • D’Ars Studio, Milan, Italy (with the Orlando Furioso Group)

I have shown around Florida with the Florida Artists Group at venues like the Leepa-Ratner Museum of Art in Tarpon Springs, the Ringling School of Art, Sarasota, Naples Museum of Art, the Ormond Museum of Art, Ormond Beach, FL and currently at the Foosaner Museum of Art, Melbourne, FL. Group exhibits with the Florida Sculptors Guild were held at Casselberry Art House and at the Art League of Daytona Beach as well as the Albin Polasek Museum and Sculpture Garden in Winter Park.” – Cheryl Bogdanowitsch
