(ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, FL) September 18, 2023 – éclat Law, PA, a leading law firm specializing in civil rights and employment law, has filed a $3 million lawsuit on behalf of a senior specialist who was unjustly forced to resign due to disability discrimination. The client, a respected Veteran, felt compelled to leave her position with a national employee benefits technology, communication, and administration firm because she could not adequately perform her duties without simple, yet necessary, accommodations which the firm refused to provide.
The discrimination occurred in early 2020 when the employer rejected the reasonable accommodations recommended by her medical professionals. Despite providing appropriate documentation and being transparent about her needs, the client’s request for a hybrid or full work-from-home environment was denied.
Shockingly, after seeking other employment, the client discovered on or about March 19, 2020, that her former employer had indeed implemented full work-from-home environments. This discovery strongly suggests that the refusal to accommodate her needs was a mere pretext for discrimination.
The client, backed by an EEOC ruling in her favor over this issue, believes she was discriminated against based on her disabilities in violation of Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and the Florida Civil Rights Act.
